Jeremy Rocha
Founder and Editor, Caliture
Caliture begins in the Central Interior. It is not meant to stay only there.
Jeremy Rocha founded the publication to cover California with depth, place, and perspective — starting with the San Joaquin Valley and nearby foothill counties, then growing into other regions of the state. The premise is the same wherever the map expands: California is too often told from the coast outward. Caliture is built to cover the rest of the state on its own terms, region by region.
Jeremy grew up in Turlock and still lives in the Central Interior. That is the first newsroom, not the last one. The launch counties — San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Mariposa — are where the reporting method is being proven: start with the place, then explain the policy, the institutions, and the future taking shape there. As the publication grows, that same approach will move into additional California regions rather than flattening the state into a single statewide feed.
He holds a B.A. in Political Science from California State University, Stanislaus, and a Master of Public Administration. He has served on Turlock’s Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission and on a Stanislaus Council of Governments citizen advisory committee. The training and the civic work matter because Caliture is not a recap service. It is a publication about how California actually works in the communities that live with the consequences.
Jeremy edits Caliture, writes a substantial share of the reporting and analysis, and is responsible for what appears under the Caliture name. The beat today is the Central Interior. The mandate is California.
